The annual NatRoad Awards, proudly brought to you by National Transport Insurance, are the perfect platform to have a colleague or employee recognised for their excellence in the transport industry. They provide an opportunity to reward an individual for their ongoing commitment to safety, developing skills and an overall professional approach.

There are two categories open for nomination

Professional Driver Of The Year

NatRoad will recognise a truck driver whose demonstrated skill, safety record, professional approach and overall performance reflects positively on them, their employer or company and the road transport industry as a whole.

Youth Employee

NatRoad will recognise a young employee (30 years and under) working in any part of the road transport industry, whose positive approach, enthusiasm towards their job and demonstrated leadership potential, reflects positively on them, their employer and the road transport industry as a whole.

The finalists in each category will receive:

  • Return economy airfares from their closest airport to Hamilton Island to attend the awards presentation;
  • One nights accommodation at the Reef View Hotel on Hamilton Island; and

Recipients of each award category will receive $500 worth of BP Gift Vouchers. Nominations can be made by self nomination, employers, workmates, industry colleagues and friends who are NatRoad members.

Ted Pickering Award

The Ted Pickering Memorial Award is awarded each year to an individual for their outstanding contribution to the Australian road transport industry.

This award is determined by the NatRoad Board of Directors.

Terms and Conditions

You may nominate yourself for an award. If you wish to nominate another person for a NatRoad Award, you must have that person’s consent.

In order to be eligible for nomination for an award, you, or the person you are nominating, must be an employee of a financial NatRoad Member.

If you, or the person you nominate, becomes a finalist for an award (a finalist nominee), NatRoad will:

• contact the member employer of the finalist nominee for a copy of the finalist nominee’s driving history (but only where the driving history is relevant to the award) • contact the referees of the finalist nominee • pay return economy airfares from the finalist nominee’s closest airport to Hamilton Island, Queensland • pay for 1 night’s accommodation at the Reef View Hotel in a standard reef view room (any additional accommodation is to be provided at the expense of the finalist nominee). If you nominate yourself for an award, or if you are a person nominated for an award, you need to know that, in the event that you become a finalist nominee and/or the winner of an award, your name will be announced by NatRoad through NatRoad’s member communications, via social media avenues, and also in similar publications which may be produced in hard copy e.g. the NatRoad Annual Report. The personal information of award nominees will be dealt with in a manner consistent with NatRoad’s privacy policy which is available here.
